Ebony Chappel

An award-winning multimedia journalist, business owner and certified community health worker, Ebony is known for making high-level decisions, bringing resources to the table and collaborating for maximize productivity to achieve strategic business goals.

Her work as The Indianapolis Recorder editor in chief and as radio host at Radio One garnered recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists, Hoosier State Press Association and National Newspaper Publishers Association. She was also recognized by the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation while at Indiana Donor Network. And in 2022, Ebony was named to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s Forty Under 40.

As a freelance writer, Ebony is a media personality and contributor with Indy Maven, Pattern Magazine and Urban One. During the 2020 pandemic, she launched a podcast, What’s Good? with Ebony Chappel to shed light on people in the community impacting the world in positive ways. For nearly a decade, she’s used her skills to support small businesses and community-based organizations.

Ebony volunteers with various community groups and serves on committees and boards serving arts, culture, literacy and education. She currently serves as president of the Indianapolis Press Club Foundation Board and executive director of Friends of Belmont Beach.
